El cancionero musical de gaspar fernandez

Ensemble La Chimera
Eduardo Egüez – direction

The arrival of the Conquistadors in South America and the establishment of the Jesuit missions gave rise to a fascinating phenomenon of syncretism.

The Jesuits, in particular, brought with them music scores that gradually incorporated indigenous sounds and languages such as the Guaraní, giving rise to works somewhere between two worlds, as singular as they were sparkling.
Eduardo Egüez and La Chimera dive into a totally new repertoire around the composer Gaspar Fernandez, who was choirmaster at the Cathedral of Puebla in New Spain. With its frenzied rhythms and timelessly beautiful melodies, La Chimera explores these unique scores of striking syncretism with real delight!
